Jackie, Eric, Alex + 1

I first photographed Alex a couple of years ago at Elm Bank in Wellesley and was charmed then by his sweet little face and a smile that says mischief.  This past fall, we did some updated pictures at the same spot and I was so happy when I recently heard from Jackie about their family’s upcoming expansion this spring.

Maternity sessions can really vary, as I always say to people when I get inquiries about scheduling one. I love how one mama’s vision might be intimate and cozy shots at home focused on the beauty of a growing belly while other women may want the session to feel more like a family session or a couples session that just happens to include a larger than usual belly. Most of all though, I love how at all of these sessions, you can feel the excitement, the anticipation and the quiet but always present connection between the mama and her baby. All family sessions that happen at home are cozy and somewhat intimate  but maternity and newborn sessions are a unique kind of thing and I always leave feeling extra sappy and a little better about the world we live in.

Everyone knows that getting ready for a baby can feel overwhelming and let’s face it, when there is already a toddler involved, you don’t too many opportunities to kick your feet up and soak up the anticipation for the newest little person on the way.  The thing is, that anticipation and all of the wonder about who this brand new person is going to be is as fleeting as every other stage of growing up and it deserves a moment or two. I’m so glad that Jackie and Eric welcomed me into their home to capture them all as they get ready to welcome Alex’s baby sister. Jackie has got the gorgeous and glowing thing down pat and it’s pretty clear that Eric and Alex know how good they have it. Here are a few of my many favorites:
